The University of California Berkeley's Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Graduate ProgramThe University of California Berkeley offers a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry for graduate students. There are four associate degrees offered through this program, including an Associate of Arts in Chemical Engineering and an Associate of Science in Chemical Engineering.The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry is the first graduate program to focus on computational chemistry, the study of chemical processes. This focus offers a broader understanding of chemical processes as well as a better understanding of the complexities involved in studying such processes. This program's graduates have a greater understanding of a variety of chemical reactions.Students in the Chemistry program will be required to learn basic principles that influence chemical reactions. Such principles include physical properties of the compounds involved, reaction mechanisms, and the features of reactions themselves. Graduates of the chemistry program can understand the meaning of these concepts in the context of their daily work. As a result, they have a deeper understanding of how their own life experience is applicable to the study of chemical reactions.The associate degrees offered through the University of California Berkeley's graduate program are intended to provide a thorough understanding of chemical processes. At the same time, students will be introduced to the practical application of chemistry. Each degree requires its students to complete specific courses in a specific area of the field. However, students who complete the different degrees are expected to be familiar with the fundamental concepts that underlie chemical processes.In the Chemistry graduate program, students take two core courses. These include Chemical Reaction and Principles of Chemistry. The second core course is used to provide students with a general introduction to the different branches of chemistry. Other required cour ses include introductory thermodynamics, organic chemistry, and chemistry of living systems. Students taking the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry must complete a research project.In addition to these core courses, there are additional courses that students must complete in the University of California Berkeley's graduate program.
